YELLOW BELT
DEFINITION OF THE YELLOW BELT
Signifies the earth in which the plant takes root, developing the foundation of Taekwon-do.
Pattern: Dan-Gun
Dan-Gun Definition: Named after the holy Dan-Gun, the legendary founder of Korea in the year of 2333 B.C.
Starting Position: Parallel Ready Stance

Foot Returns: Left
1) Turn 90 degrees to the left and double knife hand block in a left back stance.
2) Step forward and face punch in a right front stance.
3) Turn 180 degrees to the right and double knife hand block in a right back stance.
4) Step forward and face punch in a left front stance.
5) Turn 90 degrees to the left and low block in a left front stance.
6) Step forward and face punch in a right front stance.

Definition: The pseudonym of the patriot Ahn Chang-Ho (1876-1938).
The 24 four movements represent his entire life which he devoted to furthering the education of Korea and its independence movement.

1st and 2nd Grade Yellow Belts
Horse stance = Middle stance
Start in middle stance with right side facing opponent
1. Step together, making a left leg side kick, step down, feet together, then right foot steps back into the original middle stance.
2 Step together, making a left leg round kick, step dow, feet together, then right foot steps back into the original middle stance.
3. Step together, making a left leg hook kick, step down, feet together,
3. Step together, step left foot forward into front stance, right reverse punch, step left foot back together, then right foot steps back into the original middle stance.
Hop change sides, landing in a and repeat drills.

3. Step together, making a left leg side kick, landing in a left front stance while making a right punch; step left foot back to right, feet together, then step right foot back into original middle stance.
4. Step together, making a left leg hook kick; step down with feet parallel and back to your opponent, then execute a right spin side kick; step down with feet parallel and back to your opponent, making the left spin side kick; landing in a left front stance while making a right punch; step left foot back to right, feet together, then step right foot back into original middle stance.
5. Step together, making left leg side kick; stepping down with feet parallel and back to your opponent, execute a right 360 spin heel kick; landing in the original middle stance; forward step together and step out into a left front stance while making a right punch; pick up left leg and execute a left leg round kick; step down, feet together, then right foot steps back into the original middle stance.
Hop change sides, landing in a middle stance and repeat the above drills with right sides facing each other.
UNIFORM INFORMATION
All uniforms must be white with no writing on the back unless with special permission.
A uniform should always feel big enough so as not to restrict movement.
A new uniform should always feel a little too big.
Expect your uniform to shrink or tighten up a little after repeated washings.
If your uniform is too long, fold it over at the waist-then tighten.
Avoid cuffing pant legs to shorten, cuffs come out while kicking causing discomfort and distraction during your workout.
When closing uniform top, fold left side over right
CTF patch goes on the upper left front chest side.
HOW TO TIE YOUR BELT
Start stripe end of belt on the left hip.
Wrap belt to the right front around you.
Wrap belt over itself a second time around you .
Grab left end of belt with left hand and right end with your right.
Tighten comfortably and even the ends out to your sides.
Put right end of belt underneath wrapped belt near front abdomin and pull up and to the right.
Tighten again to desired comfort and even the ends out to your sides.
Place right side over left creating a closed circle with belt ends overlapping each other and pointing opposite.
Pinch overlapped parts of the belt with right hand fingers.
Pull right end up through circle with left hand to create a knot.
Open side of knot should face to the right.
Belt ends should be hanging down evenly.
Striped end of belt should be on the right.
TESTING INFORMATIONTestings are generally held every two months. Not every student is ready to test within this time frame. Some schools hold a testing at their own school on a bi-monthly format between regular testings for the advancement of students ready at that time.(Intended mostly for white belts). You must have the approval from your instructor to take part in any test.
YELLOW BELT TEST CONSISTS OF:
1. Performing all patterns up to your rank.
2. Performing Yellow belt floor drills of your rank.
3. General Knowledge questions.
a. Student oath.
b. Belt color definition.
c. In class curriculum.
TESTING SUGGESTIONS
1. It is appropriate and mandatory to reply loudly and distinctively, Yes Sir or Yes Mam, whichever applies when you are called out onto the testing floor by the judges.
2. Move quickly to your designated spot.
3. Stand feet together hands at your sides in respectable fashion when called out to go to your spot or up to the judges table for questioning.
4. Do not lean on or touch the judges table during questioning.
5. Confident Eye Contact during entire testing is important.
6. Loud Ki-Hap.
7. Speak in a Loud And Legible Voice.
8. Straighten uniform into a presentable fashion by turning away from the judges in respect and turning back when finished.
Remember, nervousness is a natural feeling. These testings are designed to help prepare you for moments like these and teach you how to channel your nervousness so as to conduct yourself with confidence and self-control in a challenging environment.
